Phi Lambda Beta- Portuguese Honor Society


Phi Lambda Beta is a national honor society composed of undergraduate and graduate students who have shown outstanding achievement in the study of Portuguese language, culture and literature. Students are selected each year from eligible candidates to become initiated.


Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Completed a minimum of 18 semester credit hours of college Portuguese, including 3 semester hours of a course in literature, culture or civilization.
  2. Students who have completed 15 credits and are taking their last 3 credits this semester, can apply for the PLB.
  3. 3.25 GPA or better in Portuguese courses and a 2.75 or better cumulative GPA.
  4. Completed at least 3 semesters of college coursework.

Transfer students are eligible to apply if they have taken Portuguese in their previous institution and comply with the PLB requirements listed above. Please submit both Rutgers and previous school unofficial transcripts when applying.
