Master of Arts for Teachers of Spanish (M.A.T.)
Application Deadlines

These are strict deadlines. If your application is not complete by the deadline, you will be considered for the following semester. It is the applicant's responsibility to make sure their application is complete. Note: each program sets its own application deadline.
M.A.T. Application Requirements:
- Application

Official transcripts from all universities applicant has attended- both undergradaute and graduate*

Bachelor’s degree in Spanish OR
at least 12 upper division (300 or 400 level) OR
graduate credits in Spanish language, linguistics, literature, translation, culture, or civilizations -
Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 out of 4.0 total, or equivalent

A valid license to teach Spanish OR
a valid provisional/temporary license for an applicant pursuing licensure/certification OR
relevant work experience of at least three years -
3 Letters of Recommendation, 2 of which should be written by former professors that can assess the applicant’s academic performance

A personal statement, written in Spanish, which expresses the applicant’s purpose and goals in pursuing the M.A.T.

The TOEFL or IELTS if the applicant’s undergraduate degree is from a non-English speaking university
The Graduate School, New Brunswick website provides a detailed explanation of the expectations for this requirement. - GREs will not be taken in into account in determining admission.
Upon submission of all materials, the Spanish Graduate Admissions Committee will review each packet and make the decision regarding the student’s acceptance or rejection following the deadlines posted.
