When I first matriculated into the MA program in Translation in 2008, I had the intention of honing my language skills to become a translator. Thankfully, the program also assists students in understanding the language industry holistically, through classes and internships, and I soon discovered an entirely new career path in translation project management. Through thoughtful mentoring by the Department Director, Miguel Jiménez, it was suggested I consider an internship/practicum at a Language Service Provider (LSP). Professor Jiménez facilitated an introduction for this internship, which set my career in motion to becoming the Account Manager I am today. The education, knowledge, and especially guidance, was invaluable to me. I could not be more grateful for the opportunities I was afforded through Rutgers University and the MA program.
