Ximena Quesada, MAT Alum, has been selected to attend a prestigious White House professional development and was honored at this year's FLENJ conference.

The 2025-2026 Chancellor and Provost Awards for Faculty Excellence recognized 11 outstanding faculty members, across all career stages, whose work has been recognized by their peers.

We're deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of our dear colleague Irma Sanchez, a PhD alumna and part-time lecturer in our department. Irma passed away peacefully on August 4th, surrounded by her loving family, after a brief illness.

Ph.D. student Meritxell Feliu Ribas, in collaboration with Prof. Kendra Dickinson, has been awarded an IDEA Innovation Grant for their project Spanish in Society Enrichment Program.

Congratulations to our Ph.D. student Diana Sanchez on being awarded an IDEA Innovation Grant - Accessibility Track, for her project Inclusive Teaching Practices: Enhancing Accessibility and Equity for Students with Disabilities. 

Spanish and Portuguese Professor Daniel Da Silva hosted a fantastic "lunch and movie" event on April 29th to watch and discuss the though-provoking film ¿DE QUÉ CASA ERES? He was joined by the film's director Ana Pérez-Quiroga.
