MINOR IN SPANISH
The minor program in Spanish is primarily designed for students in other majors who need a background in Spanish to prepare for careers in business, law, government, medicine,or for personal enrichment.
- A minor consists of a minimum of 18 credits of courses given in Spanish (940) completed with a grade of C or better in each course.
- Of the 18 credits, 9 credits must be at the 300 level or above.
- The first course to count towards the minor is SPA 132 (SPA 139 for heritage speakers)
- Please refer to the description of our courses for a list of pre-requisites.
- No more than 3 credits may be taken in courses not taught in the Spanish language.
Course Planning for Spanish Minor
- 940:101, 940:102, 940:131, and 940:132 is offered every semester
- with at least one online asynchronous section
- 940:203, 940:204 is offered each semester in person
- 940:201- 940:202 is the Heritage speaker equivalent course of 940:203- 940:204
- 940:205 Spanish for the Health Professions is offered each semester in online asynchronous format
- 940:215, 940:261, 940:325 are offered each semester and can be taken together in any order
- One 300 literature course is offered each semester (940:331- 940:336)
- One 300 linguistics course is offered each semester (940:362- 940:368)
- One 400 level elective course is offered every semester
- Independent studies are offered by a faculty member and special permission is required to be registered
Note: You will not receive credit towards the minor for any course taken below your placement.
